Ipsy - August 2015

(click if you wish to enlarge)

I hope everyone is having a splendid day so far! The school year is back, and I myself have recently just entered into college for the second time around to finish my degree. I am super excited and super hopeful, that this year will be the year I will finally accomplish my goals. That being said, what more of a perfect theme for Ipsy's August Glam Bag than "Prep School!"

If you don't know what Ipsy is, it's a beauty subscription bag designed just for you, (by taking the beauty quiz) that cost $10 a month. The $10 also includes shipping. Beauty Guru Michelle Phan curates the bags, and you generally receive 5 items.

If you wish to sign up you can sign up through my personal referral link here: Ipsy Sign Up

Every month you receive a bag with your Ipsy items in them. This month the bag design (as seen above) opened from the side of the bag; instead of the top.

It's a black and white design, which to me looks like stars. I prefer the bags that open from the top, but don't mind these every now and then. I applaud Ipsy because from Day 1, they have managed to come up with a completely different design each month.

Now let's see what I got inside my Glam Bag this month. Feel free to click on any of the pictures below if you want to see up close any of the products...

"HydraGel is a revolutionary formula with hybrid gel technology. The ease of a powder with the fresh, natural look of a cream -- HydraGel Blush makes you look like you're blushing, not like you're wearing blush. Formulated with beneficial ingredients Shea Butter, Avocado Butter and Jojoba Seed Oil to hydrate the skin while Lavender extract provides luminosity for a fresh, natural-looking flush of pure color."

I am not crazy about blush, it's just never really been my thing. I prefer a bronzer or bronzer/combo. Most of the time it's too much for my skin-tone. However, this formula has changed my mind. It is so easy to blend, and it truly looks as if you aren't wearing blush (which is a big problem of mine usually). It also makes a nice color for lips as well. This is one blush I can say will defiantly not go to waste.

Price: $16 (For a full size; the one seen above is a tad smaller worth $12)

"Noyah's all-natural lipsticks come in dazzling earth-friendly bamboo packaging and are versatile enough to take you from subtle daytime chic to a fun-filled evening look.

The lipsticks are made in the USA, never tested on animals, and contain no parabens or sulfates. If that's not enough to make you feel all warm and fuzzy, post #noyah or #livedivinely and noyah will donate a product to the homeless!"

This was my favorite product in the bag this month. Usually, I am not too crazy about natural lipsticks. However, I am really enjoying this color as well as the moisturizing formula. The packaging is cute, and the cause they support just makes me love them that much more. Every time you post and use the hashtag #noyah or #livedivinely (make sure you tag them just in case), Noyah will donate a product to the homeless!

Price: $18 (For a full size; the one above is a sample size worth $4)

"This highly natural La Fresh® Eco-Beauty® Good Night. Night Cream provides super hydration and restores your skin making it visibly smoother and plumper. It will also rescue your skin from fine wrinkles on the forehead and crow's feet around your eyes. Say bye-bye to damaging elements that age your skin and say hello to recovered, recharged, and youthful."

Moisturizers for me are the most useful product I could receive. I go through so many cremes because of how dry my skin is. I enjoyed almost everything about this cream, except that it was a little thicker than I like my moisturizers. I will say it absorbs rather quickly, so this isn't a huge issue. I also enjoy the cucumber smell it has.

Price: $40 (for a full size; this is a deluxe sample which retails for $13.99)

"This ultimate lipliner is the original Lord & Berry lip pencil. It’s easy-to-use and its formula softens and protects the skin with the nutrients from macadamia oil and waterlily extracts. You can line your lips and fill them in using this pencil- finish with a lipgloss or lipstick or a more dramatic look"

I am not really sure what Ipsy was thinking when picking this for me, other than the fact that maybe it would somehow change my mind about how I feel about nude lip-liner's. It just wasn't for me though. I have never really used lip-liner much, unless it's one of those clear (or clear wax) ones and defiantly not nude. Better luck next time.

I will give Lord & Berry their props though as they do make really well-made products, as I have tried their glosses in the past.

Price: $18 (for a full size; this is travel size worth
 $9?)

"Use this hydrator and your skin will feel smoother and softer immediately. Always apply to wet skin. This all over in-shower body moisturizer, "conditions your body like you condition your hair". It's also unscented so it rehydrates skin without any irritation from fragrance. Holds moisture in your skin for 24 hours."

I really enjoyed using this product, and it works so well. I love how it fits with my on the go lifestyle, as you apply it while you are in the shower. It also does a good job at keeping this skin hydrated until your next shower. I love that Ipsy included a product like this, and would love to see similar one's included in the future.

Price: $16 (for a full size; this is a sample size worth $3?)

 BONUS ITEM(S)

For every product that you review you can earn points, you can also earn points other ways such as for referrals. Once you save up enough points you can go to the points store to spend your points.
Here is what I spent some of my points on this month:

"This bronzing powder gives your complexion the warmth and luminosity of naturally sunkissed skin. Hydrating, silky-smooth & long-wearing, it also protects against free radicals. Contains Vitamin E to protect the skin and mica, which provides dense natural pigment."

I am a bronzer fanatic, so this was the perfect product to purchase with my points. Pixi makes great products, and this product is no exception. It works wonderful, and gets the job done. Not to mention it was only 500 points!

Price: $18 with bronzer and Kabuki brush (this is a FULL SIZE bronzer! It did not however come with the brush which makes it worth $10)

This month we received a value of around $52 (includes the bronzer; $42 without)! Not only did I get to try some new products, but I received a great deal since I only paid $10. What do you think about this month's Ipsy "Prep School"?" What variation did you receive? I love hearing your questions/comments, so feel free to leave them below.

               Until next time...

Ipsy - April 2015

Hello Everyone!
I hope everyone is having a spectacular day! That being said, I just received my Ipsy bag for the month of April, and I am excited to share with you what I received. This month's theme was "Beautifully Bohemian" There were some items I wish I would have gotten, but overall I am pretty happy with this month's bag.

This month was a straw bag with bright colors weaved in it. I don't think it was handmade because I imagine that would take forever, however it definitely looked as though it could be. I thought it was different than our usual monthly bag, and I love it!

Let's see what I got in my bag this month...

"Designed to highlight your complexion, our weightless blush can be used lightly for a fresh look or layered for a dramatic look!. An effortless application to the cheekbones that lasts all day!"

I have heard some people complain about the darkness of the blush, but let me tell you I am the lightest skin tone there is and it looks great. It comes off as a Matte Pink Coral, and I adore it! Not to mention the size of the product we received was full size and is huge.

Price: $15 (FULL SIZE!)

"This gentle nutrient-rich botanical lotion is perfect for normal-to-oily, combination or sensitive skin. This lotion has a lightweight texture, absorbs rapidly and does not leave an oily film on the skin. Special ingredients, such as borage and grape seed oils, make this lotion especially effective for damaged or problem skin. Those with sensitive skin will find it gentle and non-irritating. Paraben-free."

It truly is a light facial lotion. I am surprised even though it is so light - it is extremely hydrating. I also think the smell is quite pleasant as well. It doesn't really have a scent but just a nice "lotion-y" smell which is light. It is all around a really nice facial lotion. The only thing that would take it from great to perfect is if it had an SPF.

Price: $21 for 2oz (received a half size; value $10.50)

"Introducing theBalm's latest addition to the Nude series... Nude Dude! Get a quick look using any combination of these triple-milled shadows or dress up your look by adding water to transform your favorite shades into loyal liners. The shadows can be worn wet or dry and alone or layered for added intensity, so go ahead and cover (or uncover) your eyes."

Eeek! I love these. The packaging is too cute, and the formula itself is great as well. You could get "Fit" which is a shimmering copper or "Flirty" which is a shimmering golden violet. I am so happy I received "Flirty," because out of the two, I will get the most use out of this one. They don't actually sell these in singles but rather as a palette with 12 different colors in it. My hopes one day is to be able to work with theBalm, they get me excited about makeup and really help fuel my creativity.

Price: $36 for the Palette (single shadow $3?)

"MicaBeauty Eye Primer is perfect for everything from sealing in eye shadows and foundation, to enhancing your all-day look. Go from shimmer to matte in just seconds. This waterproof formula provides the perfect foundation for a long-lasting, smudge proof look that is designed for your active lifestyle. This eye primer helps even out skin tone as well as extending and intensifying your mineral eye shadows, without creasing, smearing, or fading."

I like the fact that even though its an eye primer you can use it to seal in foundation as well. This particular product is a bit on the pricey side, so I am so glad I got the chance to try it. It is a tad dark for my skin tone however, when I put eyeshadow over it or blend it with an appropriate color you can't tell.

Price: $44.95 for 8g (received a half size; value $22.48)

"The Mullein & Sparrow Mini Lip & Cheek Tint is an all-natural, sheer, tinted balm that gives your lips and cheeks a slight flush and dewy finish. Apply desired amount to lips for nourishment, protection, and color. Dab a small amount on cheeks as a light cream blush. It’s perfect for beauty on-the-go; it brightens the whole face with a sheer rosey flush for the cheeks, gloss for the lips, and a sweet orange scent!"

I was pleasantly surprised with this because it wasn't nearly as dark as it looks. It comes off a really light color and gives my lips and cheeks a nice dewy finish. I also really enjoy the packaging and nice orange scent.

Price: $10 (FULL SIZE!)

BONUS ITEM

Bonus item's are items you get for redeeming points that you earn from reviewing the products, sharing, and referring on Ipsy.

"This mango-tinted stain beautifully blushes lips & cheeks with a tropical coral hue. Smooch-proof & smudge-proof, our sheer stain has a natural finish that will leave you looking deliciously vibrant for hours."

When I first received this I was expecting to open it and see a sponge like applicator. Much to my surprise it looks just like a nail polish type applicator. However, the color is really beautiful, and I do enjoy it. It may just take me a little practice and time to get use to the whole application of it.

Price: $30 (FULL SIZE!)

This month was a really great value, at almost $91! Not only did I get to try some new products, but got a great deal since I only paid $10. What do you think about this month's Ipsy "Beautifully Bohemian?" What variation did you receive? I love hearing your questions/comments, so feel free to leave them below.

Ipsy - March 2015

Hello There!
I hope everyone is having an AH-mazing day! It has been a crazy week for me as I have had some sick family members, but things are finally starting to look up some. Thank you for all the support! That being said, I just received my Ipsy bag for the month of March, and I am excited to share with you what I received. This month's theme was "Floral Fantasy" For me it was a mix of good and bad, which was rare because I am generally in love with every Ipsy bag. However, we loose some, win some, right?

If you don't know what Ipsy is, it's a beauty subscription bag designed just for you, (by taking the beauty quiz) that cost $10 a month. The $10 also includes shipping. Beauty Guru Michelle Phan curates the bags, and you generally receive 5 items.

If you wish to sign up you can sign up through my personal referral link here: Ipsy Sign Up

Every month you receive a bag with your Ipsy items in them. This month was a floral design of bright neon colors. I haven't really decided if I am in love with it yet. Sometimes I look at it and am like, What was Ipsy thinking? Then other times I'm like, This is really cool! Either way I will say it is definitely one of those prints better in person!

Let's see what I got in my bag this month...

"Pamper your lips with a hydrating kiss of smooth Butter Lipstick in 22 luxurious shades. The delicate texture of satin fused with the high color saturation creates an even finish on lips that’s long-wearing and beautiful."
Ipsters who sample NYX Butter Lipstick will either receive: Hunk, Little Susie, or Pops.
Usually, I would love a pink lipstick picked out for me out of the three colors that Ipsy offered. However, it was nice stepping out of my norm this month. This "blue violet" lipstick as NYX calls it, actually goes on lighter than I thought it would. For my light skin tone I thought I would look like a clown, but it's actually quite the opposite. I pull it off well I think, and have found a new found fav lipstick! Thanks, Ipsy!
Price: $6 (FULL SIZE!)

"Flirtatiously fun color that you can mix and match with ease.
Lightweight, ultra creamy texture glides on smoothly for intense, true-color payoff that doesn't fade.
Use as an eye shadow and as an eyeliner! Versatile and buildable - you choose the level of color intensity. Use with Mary Kay At Play® baked eye trio to enhance volume and creativity."
I've actually tried this pencil (and in the same color) before, and love it. So much so that I used it all up! haha. So, I was super excited to see it in my glam bag. A lot of people had mixed opinions about the color, but I am a greens, blues, and purple girl all the way! My only complaint about it, is that is uses up quickly.
Price: $10 (FULL SIZE!)

"When you're run down and stressed out, the delicate skin under your eyes really takes a beating, resulting in puffiness, dark circles and premature wrinkling. In just ten minutes, this cooling transdermal gel patch infuses the eye area with highly potent actives and Icelandic glacial water to firm, tone, brighten and reduce the appearance of puffiness and wrinkles. Eyes are revived, soothed and rejuvenated."

Here is another product that I have used in the past. In my opinion, they offer a great temporary fix. However, if your looking for something long term - I would probably recommend one of their other products as they make really wonderful products. I was happy to see that Ipsy gave us two of these to try out, and it will get used.

Price: $30 for 8 - $7.50 for 2 (which is what we received)

"Perfect your style with a runway-ready Glow! Ordinary finishing oils are designed to add vibrancy back into hair but often contain Sulfates, Parabens, Alcohol and other ingredients that can make hair dull, dry, and faded. °Coolway’s Glow™ contains none of these harmful components. It combines a natural and nutrient-rich formula of Vitamin E and Porphyra Seaweed extract to maintain moisture and balance so your hair remains beautiful and shiny throughout the day."

I have such thick and long hair, so I barely got one use out of the bottle (the top twists off like it does on hair dye). However, I will say I significantly noticed my hair was shiny and hydrated from the 1 use. It usually is so dry! I am very interested in trying out a full size of this product to see what sort of results it will give my hair long term. As well as some of their other products, since this is surprisingly my first time hearing about them. I am glad Ipsy chose this for me.

Price: $29.95 (unsure of sample size price?)

"This revolutionary BB Cushion is the world’s first, fastest and foundation-forward product that offers 5-in-1 skincare in a compact form. Powered by SPF 50+ broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection, the synergy of its exclusive Cushion Form technology and unique application hydrates, brightens, color corrects and soothes all skin types, all day long."

Wow, this stuff is really great! It gives amazing coverage. It also matched with my light skin tone, which was surprising. I was sad I could only get one use out of it though. I don't see the practicality in offering all 3 colors, but guess I understand why they did it that way.

Price: $34 (unsure of sample size price?)

BONUS ITEM

Bonus item's are items you get for redeeming points that you earn from reviewing the products, sharing, and referring on Ipsy.

"A new generation of Cargo’s lip gloss. Its super high shine gloss delivers intense color payoff and locks in moisture to keep lips feeling hydrated. This longwearing lip gloss has a slick texture that feels creamy gliding over lips without being sticky. Ingredients such as Vitamin E and Jojoba Seed oil help increase lip moisture and decrease the appearance of furrows around the mouth while increasing lip volume to its maximum fullness."

I have heard a lot of people talk about not liking this color. While it is different, I really like it. On my skintone it comes off as a light/nudish color of pink. I like combining it with my fuchsia lipstick from loreal to give it a nice glossy light finish.

Price: $16 ($8 for the mini?)

This month was really a mixed bag for me! A lot of stuff I already tried, but some really great newbie products. What do you think about this month's Ipsy "Floral Fantasy" What variation did you receive? I love hearing your questions/comments, so feel free to leave them below.

Until next time STAY BEAUTIFUL by STAYING YOU!

Ipsy - February 2015

Hello There! I hope everyone is having a WARM day, my has it been cold lately! I just received my Ipsy bag for the month of February, and I am excited to share with you what I received. This month's theme was "Ipsy Love." It was one of my favorite by far in some time!

This month was very fitting with love and Valentine's Day. Pink all over with some touches of grey in diamond shapes.

Let's see what I got in my bag this month...

GlamGlow Brightmud Eye Treatment - "BRIGHTMUD® Single-Use Sealed Chrome Cells with TAPWipe™ Bioactive Technology. The World's First TAP ON + WIPE OFF Reverse Action Under Eye & Orbital Eye Treatment. Designed for Instant 3-Minute Results. For Men & Women of All Ages and All Skin Types. BRIGHTMUD® for your New Super Bright Super Sexy Eyes."

Key Benefits:
    • Brightens
    • Fights dark circles, lines, and puffiness
    • Say “bye bye” to tired eyes!

It says each Ipster is suppose to receive two of these, for some reason I only received one. I did e-mail them though, so hopefully I will still get a second one. That being said, I did try the one I had tonight and it worked really well! My eye felt smoother, and looked more awake. I will say though on the negative side, I had some slight burning underneath my eye. I am not sure if this normal, but hey what's 3 minutes compared to beautiful eyes? ha-ha.

Full Size Price: $69 (for 12, each one cost's $5.75)

City Color Creamy Lip Stain in "Flirtini" - "A hybrid between a lipstick and gloss, our Creamy Lip Stain is a new kind of lip product that applies smooth and creamy like a gloss and sets with a matte finish. This creamy lip stain gives your lips long lasting color while keeping lips moisturized. Available in 6 fun flirty shades."

The formula is really quite interesting. It goes on like a lipgloss, but has a creamy texture like a lipstick. I like it though, and look forward to trying the other colors as well. This one is a nice light pink color.

Full Size Price: $4.99 (FULL SIZE!)

Demeter Fragrance Library "First Love" - "First Love is an irresistible, unique and unusual light floral combination of lemon zest, jasmine, honeysuckle, water lotus and white rose. Demeter launched First Love several years ago, exclusively in South Korea, and it was so good that they just had to share it. "

I'm pretty sure if "love" was made it a fragrance, this is pretty dead on. It's full of flowers and sweet scents, and I really like it. It's something I can see wearing everyday even. I've had one other scent from Demeter Fragrance Library, I believe it was a beach scent. They are really dead on with their fragrances, and can truly make anything out of the ordinary smell great and wearable.

Full Size Price (.29 oz): $10 (FULL SIZE!)

ModelCo Blush Cheek Powder in "Peach Bellini" -"ModelCo’s BLUSH Cheek Powder creates a beaming, rosy glow to brighten every complexion. The micronized color pigments and luxurious, pressed powder delivers a sheer, natural radiance that lasts all day."

I was really happy with the color I received. I don't have many peach color blushes, but I am starting to think maybe I should start buying more. With my really light complexion it just makes my skin glow!

They have the other blushes for $22. However, they do not sell "Peach Bellini" separately, so I can't really give you an exact price. The 3-piece set with the blush is in the link by clicking above and is $30.

China Glaze Nail Lacquer in "Marry A Millionaire" - "Give your manicure a dazzling finish with China Glaze Marry A Millionaire nail lacquer. This rich amethyst lacquer with multi-tonal fibers features differently sized and shaped glitter particles cleverly combined to create a sexy, super decadent, 3-D finish. China Glaze’s unique lacquers contain China Clay as a nail hardener, the same material that gives porcelain its shiny finish. "

I did a little research on this particular color, and it's actually from a collection called the "Eye Candy Collection." You can check out reviews about the full collection by going here: Nails By Kayla Shevonne. It has a really pretty purple & blue finish, and I think it will be so pretty as a topper or just alone.

Full Size Price: $5.00 (VIA Amazon) FULL SIZE!

BONUS ITEMS

Bonus item's are items you get for redeeming points that you earn from reviewing the products, sharing, and referring on Ipsy.

These delectable creams soften, nourish & thoroughly pamper hands throughout the day, quickly absorbing to provide super-soft skin. Apply Figs & Rouge Hand Cream onto your hands and massage into skin throughout the day as needed.

I enjoyed the other scent they made so much, that I just had to try the Rose Berry. I am glad I did, because it smells amazing!

Skyn Iceland Glacial Cleansing Cloths (10 Count) - "When you're too tired to deal with the whole cleanser and wash cloth routine, these on-the-go foaming cloths are the ultimate skin savior. Infused with Icelandic glacial waters and beneficial natural extracts, they sweep away makeup, dirt, oil and other impurities while refreshing and soothing stressed skin. Best of all, there's no water required. It has a clean scent, never tacky. Great for travel or every day!"

I've used and blogged about these many times before. They are just a great all around face wipe, and is great if you are on the go or just having a lazy makeup day! I highly recommend these if you enjoy using makeup wipes.

Eva Nyc Mane Tamer Leave-In Cream - "The Mane Tamer Leave In Cream is the ultimate leave in conditioner that softens hair while taming frizz and fly-aways. Argan Oil provides nourishment and hydration while Keravis Protein strengthens hair. The result is touchable, soft and smooth hair. For all hair types."

This is the first time I have ever tried Eva Nyc, but I am really liking it so far. I used it for the first time last night, and it left my hair so soft (not oily!). It also did great at taming frizz down when I straightened it. I can't wait to see how my hair does with it over time.

This month was really wonderful, and one of my favorites! What do you think about this month's Ipsy "Ipsy Love?" What variation did you receive? I love hearing your questions/comments, so feel free to leave them below.
